FAQ FOR SOLAR

Power generation for a household or a commercial place with solar energy becomes environment-friendly and cost-efficient. Going solar is not an option, but an investment. Although people consider the cost as the first factor, the ROI is something that should be considered first.

Solar energy is a clean form of energy. Therefore, the harmful emissions that occur due to conventional energy generation can be put to a stop. Additionally, energy bills can come down significantly for households as well as commercial spaces. Also, the users can earn from providing excessive energy to the power grids.

There are different financial benefits associated with the usage of solar energy. Since solar energy powers up your home/office, you would experience a significant reduction in your energy bills. In case, there is no over-usage, you can observe the least figures on your electricity bills.

Net metering is the second major benefit in terms of finances. As it allows the user to utilize the generated energy at any time instead of the time it was produced, it increases the cost-effectiveness of solar energy.

It does not require too much maintenance which saves the user from the pain of additional costs.

Solar energy is a clean and green source of energy. Therefore, the user benefits, immensely, from the installation of solar arrays.

Carbon emission has remained a major concern for many countries. It is highly polluting for the atmosphere and responsible for creating a greenhouse effect. Solar energy, thus, becomes a pollution-free option. Since the energy of the sun is non-extinguishable, switching to solar energy can help in fossil-fuel conservation.

Investing in solar energy, thus, is an anticipatory investment. People who can observe the rising demand for renewable energy can understand the increasing value of an investment in the same.

It depends on whether your electrical systems are using the power of solar energy or the grids. The electricity bill that is generated is for the grid. It means that you are not charged for the power that is supplied by solar energy.

Therefore, the process remains the same. You have to keep an account of your electricity meter. The energy charges are based on per unit i.e. every unit has an applicable fee. You can count it yourself by calculating the number of units used already. It, also, helps you to evaluate whether you have to cut down your energy usage.

Net metering helps consumers to use the electricity that is generated at any time that is generated at a certain point in time. Unlike the energy of power grids that are utilized instantly. Net metering has got increasingly popular with solar energy and other renewable energy resources. The mechanism makes the option of solar energy a more cost-effective option for users.

The concept was incepted in the US. Here the renewable energy produced from wind and sun was used at a different time than that when it was generated. Net metering encourages users to switch to solar energy systems.

The demand for solar energy is rising across the world, gradually. The investment in solar energy is a big one. However, people are still reluctant to switch to it, since its process sounds painstaking to some. However, a property that is pre-installed with solar panels can be a smart investment for new buyers.

The solar arrays installed in the property help the new owners to get the advantage of saving on their energy bills. It builds up the value of the property, without any doubt. Besides, the new owner will be entitled to financial benefits like net metering and tax credits.

Solar panels generate electricity by the photovoltaic effect that helps to run the electrical appliances of your home. Homes are equipped with the facility of backyards or rooftops. Areas, where sunlight is available in ample amounts, would be used for the installation of solar panels.

Along with solar panels in your home, you would require a PCU, a battery, and an inverter. The solar panels through PV cells absorb the sunlight. The silicon conductors, in the PV cells, use the PV effect for transforming solar energy into electricity. The electricity is, eventually, used to run home appliances through conversion to alternating current.

Photovoltaic panels use the photovoltaic effect to generate electricity. The solar panels contain solar cells that have silicon conductors. When sunlight hits the solar panels, the solar cells absorb it. The silicon conductors, thus, convert sunlight into energy. However, the energy does not reach the electrical appliances directly. The PV panels are used in conjunction with PCU, a battery, and an inverter. The PCU is responsible to convert the alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) to charge the batteries. The inverter, thereafter, converts the DC into AC to transfer the electricity to the different electrical appliances .

The solar panels would still be working if the sun is not shining the brightest as sunlight contains the photons that are required to produce the PV effect. They may lose their efficiency, when compared to their regular energy production capacity, on cloudy days. The solar panels may show 1/10th to 1/4th of their regular efficiency, on cloudy days. However, people can take advantage of solar batteries and net metering for utilizing solar energy later instead of the time when energy was harnessed.

However, solar panels cannot produce energy during the night time because the moon, only, reflects the sunlight.

It depends on the amount of snow on your solar panels. A bit of snow dust over the solar panels does not affect their effectiveness. The sunlight can still make it to the solar cells and help in electricity generation. However, if the amount of snow is heavier then there could be pitfalls in this condition.

First, the heavy cover of snow would not let the light penetrate through and the solar panels would not be able to produce electricity.

Second, the snow cover can create additional weight for the solar panels can be troublesome for the support structure. Once the snow slides, the panels will continue to work as usual.

It is entirely a choice whether you want to run your premises with partial grid power or you want to go completely off-grid. The number of solar panels is going to increase or decrease with the choice you make.

With an off-grid system, you need more solar panels to run a single household of 3 bedrooms. Besides, a PCU (power conditioning unit), solar batteries, and solar inverter would be required for the distribution and storage of the electricity. The expenditure will increase in the off-grid setup. Therefore, people often opt for the grid option that utilizes solar energy along with the grid system.

Unless you opt to go completely off-grid, you are going to receive an electricity bill. Solar panels help in saving the amount you have to incur on your monthly energy bills. However, you will still receive the electricity bill from the electricity provider.

Solar energy helps in generating an ample amount of energy for running a household or a commercial place. With the option of off-grid and power grids, you can build your reliance strategy. With solar panels, you can get enough electricity for running electrical appliances. When sunlight is not available, you can switch to the power grid.

The solar panel maintenance cost varies as per the total capacity installed for a space. The maintenance charges for the solar energy system are based on per kW capacity. Often, the charges are 1% to 2% of the starting cost of installation. In some areas, the cost could be as low as INR 1000 to INR 3000 per kW and in some areas the cost could lead up to INR 6000 per kW.

The size of the solar energy system, also, is an important variable. The smaller setups would charge more amount while the larger setups would charge less.
